Earvin “Magic” Johnson has a story to tell, and it’s coming to Apple TV+ in just a couple of months.

The upcoming four-part docuseries They Call Me Magic is slated for streaming on April 22 and will give fans a rare glimpse into the incredible real-life story of Johnson, who left his mark on history through his work — both on and off the court — and continues to impact our culture today," Apple said in a release.

The documentary showcases the NBA Hall of Famer’s rise to fame, becoming the face of the Los Angeles Lakers during the 1980s, which includes how he changed the conversation around HIV after he contracted the virus in 1991.

According to PEOPLE, director Todd Haynes chronicled Johnson’s life from his humble beginnings in Michigan to his storied basketball career and subsequent entrepreneurship and community activism.

They Call Me Magic also features an all-star lineup of interviews, including ones with Johnson and his family. In a throwback clip from the trailer, Magic says, "I think you just have to come out swinging, and I'm swinging."

The docuseries is produced by Adam McKay and based on Jeff Pearlman's book, Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Johnson won an NBA Championship and Finals Most Valuable Player Awards during his rookie year in 1979. He later went on to win four more championships with the so-called “Showtime” Lakers during the 1980s.
