Jamie Foxx Teases New Stand-Up Special That Will Explain His 2023 Health Emergency
Jamie Foxx is gearing up to drop details on what really happened to him in 2023.
On Sunday (March 3), the African American Film Critics Association recognized him with the Producers Award. While accepting his award, the Oscar winner announced his plans to curb curiosity about the events surrounding his health emergency in 2023, as reported by Extra.
“Cherish life, man. I cannot tell you. I have some people in my life that really made sure I was here because it was dire straits,” he said.
“Everybody wants to know what happened, and I’m going to tell you what happened, but I gotta do it my way. I’m going to do it in a funny way. I’m going to be on stage. We’re going back to the stand-up sort of roots,” Foxx explained.
He also teased what he intends to title the stand-up event.
"It’ll be called "What Had Happened Was,” said Foxx.
Back in April 2023, his daughter, Corinne Foxx, shared a statement revealing that her father had "experienced a medical complication," adding, “Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery.”
A day later, Corinne informed fans that he was "steadily improving."
Following Jamie's hospitalization, rumors began to swirl about the details regarding his health, but Corrine shut those down.
"Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild," she said in an IG Story she posted in May 2023. "My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone's prayers and support!"
Foxx had been filming his upcoming Netflix movie, "Back in Action," in Atlanta, GA, when the incident occurred, and the set was ultimately “shut down.” An unidentified source who spoke to the outlet claimed filming resumed the following day using a stand-in for Jamie on set.
