Anthony Mackie Steps Up as Captain America in First Teaser for 'Captain America: Brave New World'
Marvel fans were treated to their first glimpse of Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson stepping into the role of Captain America in the new trailer for the highly anticipated action movie, "Captain America: Brave New World."
The teaser begins with Sam Wilson meeting President Thaddeus Ross, now portrayed by Harrison Ford after William Hurt's passing in 2022, to talk about the future of Captain America.
Ross, who had previously arrested Sam and other Avengers in “Civil War,” proposes making Captain America an official military role. Sam is hesitant about the idea, and his concerns deepen when his friend, retired super-soldier Isaiah Bradley (portrayed by Carl Lumbly), becomes the prime suspect in an apparent assassination attempt on Ross.
While the clip doesn’t reveal much about the plot, it features plenty of action-packed sequences and a shot of President Ross warning Wilson, "You may be Captain America, but you're not Steve Rogers."
Fan reactions have already started flooding social media. While many initially had concerns about the film, they’ve now expressed renewed interest, including one X user who wrote, “Ford actually trying, Sam with multiple suits, Red Hulk…. This could be very good or very bad.”
Another person commented, “This new era of Marvel I feel it’s about to be more aggressive, more dark, and higher stakes! I’m here!”
“Ngl they kinda fucking cooked. I’m interested,” added a third person.
“Captain America: Brave New World” hits theaters on Feb. 14, 2025. Check out the teaser below.
