Amber Rose’s RNC Speech Receives Mixed Reviews From Political Commentators

The model continues to shock the world with her support for Donald Trump.

Amber Rose continues to shock the world with her firm support for Donald Trump. Taking to the stage at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, the model told the crowd that “the media has lied to us about Donald Trump.”

She opened up as a mother concerned about the future of America and how it’ll affect her children. Rose also talked about meeting Trump and his wife Melania Trump for the first time. She recalled him being “kind, generous, and funny as hell.” She added, “The First Lady was gracious and smart with a smile that will brighten up any room.”

Rose expressed her hope for “a better country for our children” as she said the “best chance we have to give our babies a better life” is to elect Trump as the next president. “I believed the left-wing propaganda that Donald Trump was a racist,” she told the audience, before saying she had done her “research” and “realized Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re Black, white, gay, or straight, it’s all love. And that’s when it hit me. These are my people, this is where I belong.”

Reacting to Rose’s speech at the RNC was Joe Biden's campaign, MSNBC host Joy-Ann Reid, CNN host Van Jones, and of course, people on social media had a lot to say — surprisingly both positive and negative.

“Amber Rose is right about one thing -- research is important," Biden-Harris campaign senior spokesperson Sarafina Chitika said in a statement. "Since we’re talking about facts, we brought receipts: Rose said American families were better off when Trump was president – and if she’s talking about his billionaire donors, she’s right. But for Black communities, it’s the opposite story: Black unemployment, Black uninsured rates, and crime rates skyrocketed under Trump’s leadership, because the truth is simple – Donald Trump doesn’t care about us, our lives, or our livelihoods. A vote for Donald Trump is a vote to line the pockets of millionaires like Rose at the expense of actual Black communities, and those are the facts.”

Trump's 'Agenda 47' and the Republican National Convention: A Comprehensive Overview

“She’s racially ambiguous,” Reid said of Amber Rose. “I don’t wanna say she’s Black because she has said she’s not, so I don’t wanna say this Black woman. This woman who is of whatever race that she has claimed, she’s said she’s not Black, but they’ve brought somebody whose whole career is based in Black culture. She used to be on a show on BET. That’s the reason most people know who she is. She dated one of the most prominent African American rappers in the business, in the history of hip hop, so her whole culture came from Black culture, even though she said she’s not a Black person herself, and the fact that she is now the person they’re using to try to recruit young people of color and to say that this is the person who is the endorser of Donald Trump, who you should trust when she won’t even claim the culture that brought her to the table, I’m dubious that this will work.”

She continued, “I don’t know anyone who takes their political cues from, but just in case you do, you might want to duplicate doing your own research because she might not have done it thoroughly.”

Jones said that the Philly native’s speech was “probably the most dangerous speech for the Democratic coalition.” He continued, “That is a young woman of color. She is describing the experience a lot of people have, feeling that maybe if you’re around liberals you might get criticized too much, you might not be able to speak your mind, and she spoke to it really well, and she’s way more famous than any of us up here. To the extent that these guys are trying to bust up our coalition, that was a bunker buster right there.” He later called her “the most effective” speaker and added that he wouldn’t be surprised if she doesn’t have a political future.

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper said Amber Rose spoke directly to the audience at home, while contributor Scott Jennings agreed, calling her “super talented” and a person who “knows how to speak plainly and directly, knows how to use the camera, the cadence of it.”
