LeBron Makes Touching Tribute To Nipsey Hussle Before Lakers Game
At the Staples Center Thursday night (April 4), LeBron James donned a black shirt bearing Nipsey Hussle’s face in honor of the late Grammy-nominated rapper. Nipsey, an L.A. native, was a frequent courtside attendee of Lakers games.
Before the game against the Golden State Warriors, Nipsey was remembered in a touching tribute over the loudspeaker.
“Entrepreneur, rapper, and community activist Nipsey Hussle tragically passed away at the age of 33,” the announcer told the crowd. “From his work within local schools, creating business in LA, and promoting better life choices, Nipsey had a lasting impact on bettering our entire Los Angeles community. Please join the Warriors, the Lakers, and the entire NBA family in a moment of silence for the late Nipsey Hussle.”
The Lakers also revealed a jersey with Hussle’s name and the number 1 signed by members of team.
The on-court tribute comes after LeBron’s Instagram post about Nipsey, which had a beautiful caption.
“Just spoke with you the other day on text bro! Telling you how proud I was of you and how I was gone get you to more Laker games next season,” he wrote. “Been A Stand Up dude from Day 1. May you rest in PARADISE Young King. This One Hurts Big Time!”
