Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' Marks 1 Billion Streams on Spotify
In 2020, Beyoncé declared the first letter in her name "stands for bands." Today, B stands for billions.
Earlier this week, the entertainment mogul's music label, Parkwood Entertainment announced on social media that her latest album, "Cowboy Carter" has reached new heights on the charts with "Over 1 Billion streams on Spotify."
"COWBOY CARTER keeps climbing ii the top," the message continued.
After much anticipation, the acclaimed LP was released on March 29 and quickly became a hit. That same day, Spotify announced, "Beyoncé's COWBOY CARTER became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2024 so far." That would be the first of many milestones to follow, including the first time a country album held that title this year.
Last month, the album took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart and reached No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart making her the first-ever Black woman to achieve the feat since the list premiered in January 1964, Billboard reports.
In her first week, she debuted with 407,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. And it was her eighth album to top the Billboard 200.
"Cowboy Carter" also earned the most units for a country album in its first week since Taylor Swift’s released "Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)," which boasted 716,000 units.
