Look: Colts Owner Jim Irsay Just Spent Over $100k on a Legendary Prince Item
One billionaire sports owner just scored a touchdown when it comes to a certain piece of Prince memorabilia.
Jim Irsay, owner of the Indianapolis Colts, dropped $137,500 as the winning bid to the late artist's "Yellow Cloud" electric guitar during an auction in Beverly Hills on Saturday, the Associated Press is reporting.
Prince rocked out with the guitar during several concerts until the mid-1990s, according to the AP, and Heritage Auctions claims the body guitar was one of the musician's favorites.
Take a look at the legendary piece of memorabilia.
Irsay can now add Prince's guitar to his musical collection, which already includes instruments once owned by the likes of The Beatles' Ringo Starr, Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia and Bob Dylan.
His costly purchase came a day before glorious Prince tributes at BET Awards 2016 on Sunday night. That's when artists such as Sheila E., Bilal, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monáe, The Roots, Jennifer Hudson and more put on memorable tributes to one of the greatest artists we have ever had.
