Kanye West Confesses to Being Shunned After Dating Kim Kardashian
It's no secret that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's relationship is not necessary beloved by the masses, and the "Good Life" rapper is confessing that it once affected his career in fashion.
In an interview with Style.com, 'Ye revealed that his romance with the reality star once drastically affected his chances of having a lucrative career in fashion: "Soon as we started dating, fashion people were really opposed to the idea of reality stars," he said. "And all the relationships, the somewhat friends that I had somewhat built up, completely turned their backs on her and me."
West went on to explain in the sit-down that his first two collections failed due to the backlash he and Kim received, forcing him to start over and refocus. During this time, he had time to refine his craft as a designer and tailor with the support of his new family, including Kris Jenner and Rob Kardashian, whom he calls "mom" and "little brother."
"The so-called traction that I was getting in the high-fashion world was completely thrown out the window and I was finally allowed to go to school," he said. "Every day I was in my mom [Kris Jenner]'s house, in my little brother's old room, Rob's old room, re-tailoring a Céline skirt, re-tailoring a Saint Laurent jacket, re-tailoring a Zara top, re-tailoring Wolford... And day by day, [Kim and I] learned, we got better... we improved each other."
Elsewhere in the interview, West — who recently showed his newest collection in collaboration with Adidas Originals at New York Fashion Week — talks about his daughter North's tantrums and his purpose as a father.
