Celebrity Reactions to Gangsta Boo's Death

The beloved Memphis rapper was found dead in Memphis on January 1st.

The hip-hop community and fans across the world are mourning the death of Memphis rap legend Gangsta Boo.

Born Lola Mitchell, Gangsta Boo was found dead in a friend’s home on Jan. 1 at 4 p.m. local time, as previously reported by BET.com. Her cause of death remains unknown.

Celebrities are sharing reactions to the rapper’s passing on social media.

Latto, with whom Gangsta Boo recently collaborated, shared several tweets, including one with just a row of broken hearts.

Musician Ty Dolla $ign also shared thoughts.

Rapper Rah Digga wrote, “As God as my witness Gangsta Boo ALWAYS been in my top 5 female spitters. I can't believe 2023 startin like this. #RIP to a QUEEN.”

DJ and Author Kiana Fitzgerald wrote, “The news about Gangsta Boo really hurts. She gave countless women — within the South & beyond — a blueprint to retool and rework for themselves. Her influence is incalculable and still so present today. A legend in every sense, who was committed to encouraging future innovators.”

DJ Paul, founder of Three 6 Mafia, was one of the first to acknowledge that Boo passed with a post of a picture of her behind a set of turntables.

EL-P of Run the Jewels, with whom Gangsta Boo collaborated, shared on Instagram, “i don’t have the words yet. I just know we lost a part of our family today. We love you, Lola. Thank you my friend, our sister forever.”
