Finally! Tamar Exposes the Shocking Details of How She Was Fired From The Real
After weeks of silence since the news broke of her being fired from The Real, Tamar Braxton is finally speaking out in a candid interview on the Steve Harvey Morning Show. The singer gave a play-by-play on how she and her husband, Vince, found out she was getting the boot.
"[Vince] was calling them to talk about glam for Essence Festival, and literally, this is verbatim what he told me, she was like, 'Oh, I've been meaning to call you,'" she said, referencing his conversation with the show's executive producer, Rachel Miskowiec. "And then went into, 'We're not going to have her back.'"
Tamar said when she walked into the room, she noticed Vince's disposition had changed and was confused as to why she was let go.
"I was actually in my glam room and when I came downstairs, I saw this look on Vince's face," she said. "He just looked distraught and confused, and I thought something happened to someone in my family, like, 'What's wrong? What's going on?" And he was just like, 'I think you got fired.'"
The "Love & War" songstress said she took the news hard as she loved the routine of going to work every day: "Like, what you talkin' 'bout? Got fired for what? And honestly, my heart sunk into my shoes. I pretty much fell over, to be honest," she said. "I loved going to work just like everybody else."
She continued, saying as far as she was concerned, there were no problems that could have led to her firing — everything seemed OK.
"You know when you love your job, it's no issues," she said. "You're not complaining about much. You're not fighting with anybody. Me and the girls got along — so I thought. We've been on hiatus for about three weeks and so for this to come out of the blue is just astonishing, to be honest."
No one had given her or Vince a reason for the decision, either: "I wish I could sit here and tell you that it was negotiation issues," she said. "No, 'cause I wasn't negotiating... I wish I could tell you that it was a headache on set. It wasn't. I really honestly don't know, and I feel that is what is bothering me to this day... If somebody just tells you they don't like you. So is it a personality thing? Is it just me? How do you fix yourself?"
Not even her agent or legal team knew of the decision, and since her being axed, no one from production has reached out to her: "My agent didn't know," she said. "My lawyer didn't know. I'm pretty sure they reached out by now. Nothing has come back to me."
