A biography on the life and untimely death of UGK member Pimp C is in the works, penned by former OZONE magazine editor in chief Julia Beverly. The book has no release date as of yet, Beverly told BET.com.

Apart from telling Pimp C's story, the book will touch on "Houston's dynamic music culture" in addition to the "pitfalls of the entertainment industry," "economic and racial disparities in the Texas Criminal Justice system," "the "hazards of drugs use" and more.

Beverly interviewed some 250 people for the book. Among the list are Snoop Dogg, Three 6 Mafia, David Banner, Ice-T, UGK member Bun B and Pimp C's mother, Weslyn "Mama Wes" Monroe, who was also his manager. 

"People often remember Pimp C for his flamboyant style and controversial interviews, but few understand just how complex and talented he was and how connected he was to the success of many other artists," Beverly said via press release. "Initially, I felt this was an important project because he hadn't received a proper tribute. The more I researched, I realized his story is one that needs to be told, and I'm in the perfect position to tell it.” 

Pimp C, born Chad Lamont Butler, died in 2007 from an accidental drug overdose of prescription cough medicine containing codeine.
