Janet Jackson Inspires Fans to Be “True You"
In her best-selling book True You: A Journey to Finding and Loving Yourself, music icon Janet Jackson shares her painful journey to loving herself. Released in February, the book offers a revealing look at Jackson's family and life struggles and allows the reader an inside look at her incredible career. While currently promoting her "Number Ones: Up Close and Personal" world tour, Jackson continues to share her intimate life story with fans while urging her supporters to follow a similar path of self-discovery.
In the book's acknowledgements, Jackson gives credit to her fans for sharing their stories with her over the years, giving her the courage to tell her own. In a recent interview with BET News, the Grammy Award–winning songstress encouraged readers to open up, as she did in her book. “It’s important to open up; don’t stay quiet, because that’s what I did for so many years,” said Jackson. “It’s important for them to know that God made them as they are and they are beautiful. That’s what makes them so unique…that they are different in their own way.”
Ms. Jackson, currently on the U.S. leg of her "Number Ones: Up Close and Personal" world tour, wants everyone who reads the book to get to a good place—one she says took her most of her adult life to get to.
