Brandy just got herself several thousand new sisters. The Game star announced on Instagram that she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, or the AKAs, as an honorary member. Most proud of the honor is Brandy's mom, Sonja Norwood, who is herself an AKA from way back. Filmmaker Ava DuVernay was also inducted into the sisterhood this year.
Alpha Kappa Alpha, which celebrates its 106th year, boasts dozens of famous members. Phylicia Rashad, Gladys Knight and the late Dr. Maya Angelou are just some of the sorority's notable members, along with Star Jones and civil rights activist Coretta Scott King.
Looks like Brandy is in some great company!
