"This is an odd little story somewhat of a fable about a man grieving the death of his mother after she leaves him an unusual request in her will," said Obama in the voice-over of the snippet. "The film is about lost objects and lonely people, forgiveness and regret, but I also think it works hard to uncover where tenderness and closeness can exist in these things."

Additionally, the rising filmmaker acknowledged the team who helped her create the movie. "The folks who came together to make this film have my heart, pun intended, and I'm incredibly grateful to them for giving this story life, and we are grateful to Sundance for giving us the opportunity to share it with you all. "

After that, Obama shared that she hopes people "enjoy the film and that it makes you feel a bit less lonely or at least reminds you not to forget about the people who are."

As the film awaits its Sundance premiere, it has already racked up major acclaim.

The film is currently nominated for the Short Film Grand Jury Prize at the festival. In addition, it won Best Live Action Short at the Chicago International Film Festival in 2023.

Previously, Obama worked as a writer on “Swarm,” that was directed by “Atlanta” star and Emmy-winner Donald Glover. The limited-series also starred Emmy nominated actor, Dominique Fishback and Chlöe Bailey.

The Sundance Film Festival spans Jan. 18th - Jan. 28th.
