People Are Saying NFL Teams Kneeling Before The Anthem Defeats The Message
Today (October 1) and prior to their kickoff against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Baltimore Ravens took a knee before the national anthem.
As the players knelt, boos insued by their home fans as the PA announcer said the team was kneeling in prayer.
Linebacker Terrell Suggs, wide receiver Mike Wallace, former Ravens star Ray Lewis and others kneeled during the national anthem last week in London when they took on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Kneeling before the anthem made most people mad, especially those who believe the players are succumbing to the pressure from both disgruntled fans and the league. Others were mad because it showed that the boos were only about their actual protest and not disrespecting the anthem.
And of course, there were those who were expressing their displeasure by booing, aka the hypocrites.
