North Carolina Pastor Fired for Attending Rick Ross Concert

Ross is "tearing down the Kingdom of God," church says.

Being a Rick Ross fan cost a pastor his job. Pastor Rodney Willis was pink-slipped from his gig at North Carolina's Mt. Salem Baptist Church last weekend for "supporting people" (i.e. Ross) who are "tearing down the Kingdom of God," a church deacon said to Americapreachers.com

Parishioners spotted him at the MMG honcho's concert last Saturday (Aug. 4). When he showed for church the next day his parking spot was gone, and a guest minister was put in his place.

Fourteen deacons met Saturday night to decide on Willis' fate. An 11-3 vote ended his time with the church. "We know that many saints will have mixed opinion from our actions, but this is not how we do things here at Mt. Salem," explained deacon Miles Langley.

Ross is known to rap about drugs, sex and violence topics of which are unacceptable for a Mt. Salem preacher to stand behind. "We cannot have a pastor praising the world one minute then praising the Lord the next," Langely continued, adding that Willis attended a Lil Wayne concert nine months ago.

At 26, Willis was the youngest person to be named pastor at Mt. Salem, and his  firing after only four years on board earned him a record for the shortest tenure.
