Run-D.M.C, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, and More Perform at Yankee Stadium for Hip-Hop's 50th Birthday
All this year, hip-hop’s 50th anniversary has been celebrated by fans and artists – and one of the largest tributes is still on the way.
On August 11, the actual birthday of the culture, a massive concert takes place in Yankee Stadium to host Hip-Hop 50 Live, an all-day event with a festival lineup’s worth of talent put on by Mass Appeal and Live Nation.
Run-D.M.C. has been tapped to headline the show titled “Bottom Of The Ninth…The Walk-Off.” Other headliners for the event include Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, and Ice Cube as well as additional performers T.I., Fat Joe, Common, A$AP Ferg, EPMD, Ghostface Killah, Lupe Fiasco, and Slick Rick.

The “Queens Of Hip-Hop” portion of the show will include artists like Lil Kim, Eve, Remy Ma and Trina, while “Pillars Of Hip-Hop” will feature artists like Kool Herc and Cindy Campbell, who famously threw the basement rec-room party where hip-hop was born on August 11, 1973.
More performers are slated to be announced later, with ticket information available at Ticketmaster. The first presale begins Thursday (June 8) at 10 a.m. EST.
