Odd Future's Earl Sweatshirt Inks Deal With Sony

Earl Sweatshirt is planning a new collaborative album with Tyler, the Creator.

Now that he's returned from a long hiatus out of the country, Odd Future's Earl Sweatshirt is making up for lost time. The 18-year-old rapper has reportedly signed a deal for his own vanity label at Columbia Records, an arm of Sony Music, and plans to release a joint album with his close friend and OF collaborator, Tyler, the Creator.
Earl's Columbia label will be known as Tan Cressida and will release the Tyler collaboration as well as Earl's own solo debut and a project with producer Matt Martians of the Odd Future group The Internet, according to a new report in The New York Times.
An early stand-out from Odd Future's days releasing little-heard free mixtapes on the Internet, Earl missed out on the group's explosion onto the world stage when his mother sent him to the disciplinary Coral Reef Academy in Samoa. He returned earlier this year, and made an appearance on Odd Future's posse album released in March OF Tape, Vol. 2.
