Method Man Explains How He's Avoided Hip-Hop Beefs Throughout Career

It’s more simple than you’d think.

When you think of some of the most infamous or storied rap beefs of the 1990s, one name that never comes up is Method Man, and for good reason.

That’s because the Wu-Tang Clan emcee didn’t try to engage in them in favor of focusing strictly on music and his career. During a recent interview with Men’s Health, Meth explained how he could not take the bait on anything resulting in a back-and-forth with another artist or group.

“I just mind my business,” the Staten Island native explained. “After you perform at a club, there’s an after party — I didn’t make a lot of those. I think that’s the reason why I stayed outta a lot of trouble.”

He also notes the sheer size of the Wu-Tang itself and its long list of affiliate rappers as a deterrent for any potential opps. “That and, I mean, I had a big crew. Ain’t nobody really wanna f**k with us like that, ya dig? We didn’t have a lot to prove any m****rf*****g way. We always came humble. I just think that dude’s saw the authenticity of the group and was like, ‘Yeah, don’t try those n****s, period.’”
