Watch: Sherri Shepherd Explains Her Unusual Relationship With Her Ex-Husband's Son

She fought a bitter battle to have herself removed from his birth certificate.

Sherri Shepherd has been a main hot topic for months now as the legal battle between her and her ex, Lamar Sally, intensified.

Things got even messier when they both fought over determining how much money the actress should pay Sally to support their child, who was born via surrogate.

During an interview on The Dr. Oz Show, airing today, the former The View co-host explained that her problem stands not with the toddler, but with her ex-husband and his demands.

"I feel I had a very tight pre-nup but there's a baby here and I have always said I would take care of his son because he's here and I make money," she said, according to Page Six. "I always said I would provide financially."

  • Sally filed a petition in 2016 to increase her monthly child support payments from $4,100, but the judge denied his request, last month.

"I think that what he was asking for allowed for him not to have to work," she said.

Speaking about the 2-year-old, Sherri said she is his sole provider and has no problem playing that role.

"Even now, he never has to worry about anything as long as I'm working. He's on my health insurance. He's got a life insurance policy in case anything happens to me. He'll be taken care of the way Jeffrey [her other son] is. I've just chosen to take myself out because I think it's worse for a child with two parents not getting along."

She even recently slammed Sally on Twitter about lying about being "well off." Take a look, below:
