Missy Elliott Surprises Fans by Bringing Monica on Stage for a Special Performance of 'So Gone'

The duo last reunited for the #sogonechallenge.

Missy Elliott’s “Out of This World” tour continues to be a hot topic.

During her Atlanta stop, Elliott surprised concert-goers by bringing r&b singer Monica on stage for a special performance of their smash hit, “So Gone.”

In fan-captured videos, Monica looked phenomenal in an all-black leather ensemble with matching thigh-high boots as she belted out the lyrics to “So Gone,” the lead single from her 2003 album, “After the Storm.”

“So Gone” was one of several tracks written and produced by Elliott for Monica’s 2003 project. The song received acclaim upon its release and marked Monica’s first chart-topping hit since 1999’s “Angel of Mine.”

In 2016, the #sogonechallenge emerged online, featuring celebrities and social media users rapping random verses to the beat, which samples the 1976 song "You Are Number One" by The Whispers. Monica later reunited with Missy Elliott for her own challenge, including bars like “Now I’m making racks while they’re rapping on my old tracks.”

The “Out of This World” tour, which began on July 4, 2024, will run through August 23, 2024. This marks Elliott’s first-ever headlining tour in her three-decade career--it features Ciara, Busta Rhymes, and Timbaland.
