Chris Redd Speaks Out After Attack Near NYC Comedy Club
Saturday Night Live alum Chris Redd is recounting the moment he was attacked outside of a New York City comedy club back in October of this year.
In “The Last Laugh” podcast the comedian said that the incident was a “surprise party of one fist.”
“It cut my nose to the bone,” he said in the preview of the upcoming episode, adding that the amount of blood that appeared was “worrisome.”
Redd said that he was left with two fractures in his nose and one fracture in his cheek after his attacker hit him and ran off, as he was on his way to perform a set at the Comedy Cellar.
The 37-year-old previously updated his fans on the status of his health on his Instagram.
“I’ve been resting up like crazy but I want to say thank you thank you thank you for all the messages of love, the jokes and the concern!” Redd wrote, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I’m OK and healing fast!”
He also confirmed that his shows that had been canceled following the altercation were set to be scheduled.
“I’ll be back up and talking some good shit very soon!!!” he said.
His next show is still scheduled for Nov. 11 in Tacoma, Washington.
The New York Police Department started a preliminary investigation following the Wednesday (Oct. 26) incident and confirmed that Redd was approached by an individual, who has yet to be identified, “without prior conversation or provocation.”
