With the domestic violence controversy still swirling around the NFL, the league is ready to put out a voice — and a few familiar faces — to combat the problem. In a PSA that aired on last night's CBS presentation of Thursday Night Football, several NFL players spoke up denouncing all excuses for the acts that have found players like Ray Rice suspended indefinitely. 

The minute-long video includes the likes of Prince Amukamara (New York Giants), Jason Witten (Dallas Cowboys), Hall of Famer Cris Carter, and Giants quarterback Eli Manning among two dozen NFL stars using their voices to speak against commonly heard phrases used to defend domestic violence. ‘No More but he has such a bright future’, ‘No More why doesn’t she just leave’, and ‘No More she was asking for it’ are just a few expressed in the PSA. 

Directed by Tate Donovan, Blair Underwood and Mariska Hargitay, the PSA is the latest in an anti-domestic violence campaign produced by Hargitay’s Joyful Heart Foundation and the No More organization. 

The PSA is the most recent effort the NFL has made to battle the culture of domestic violence that has been attached to the league’s reputation. In September they brought three women on board to work on their domestic violence policies. While the NFL continues to revise their policies, deal with the current cases, and educate all members of the league on domestic violence, fans will have this PSA as another step in a positive direction of change in the sport.
