BET Awards 2021: Everything We Loved About Saweetie’s Eye-Catching Fashions, Beauty, And Viral Moments
Saweetie created a series of memorable moments at the BET Awards 2021. Below, some of our favorite highlights of the star during Culture’s Biggest Night—including the moment she stopped fellow nominee, Jack Harlow, in his tracks on the red carpet.
The Red Carpet Look
For starters, the “Tap In” rapper walked the red carpet on Sunday night in a stunning goddess-inspired gown by Dolce & Gabbana. The extravagantly designed dress, which featured a regal purple hue and shimmering metallic layers wrapped around her hips, was a highlight of the night. To complete her look from the luxury brand’s Spring/Summer 2005 collection, the star opted for gladiator-style strappy heels with bold crystal embellishments.
Daddy-Daughter Duo
With her father, the swoon-worthy Johnny Harper, by her side, the daddy-daughter duo snapped a few photos for the paparazzi. We honestly cannot get over how much Saweetie and her father complimented each other’s fly at the star-studded event.
All Eyes On Her
We were not lying when we said all eyes were on the “Fast Motion” performer. While making her way down the red carpet, the cameras captured this viral moment when rapper Jack Harlow did a double-take to admire Saweetie’s sun-kissed skin glowing in the revealing look. Saweetie’s stylist Wilford Lenov switched up his client’s look for her onstage appearance. While presenting an award, the California native dazzled in a ruby red Dolce & Gabbana gown. According to Lenov, the dress “was about 70 pounds.”
She paired the eye-catching look with $1.2M in diamonds by BVLGARI.
Keeping things candid, Saweetie later hopped on Instagram Live and revealed that she “almost passed out” in the heavy gown. She even revealed her secret to looking so good, which included eating lots of fruits and veggies. "I haven't eaten in two days so I could look good in that dress," she shared before beginning to devour a bowl of crawfish on camera.
HER GLAM UP CLOSE: HAIR AND NAILS
For the night, Saweetie looked elegant with a simple blonde top knot, styled by her hairstylist Jared “JStayReady” Henderson. For her glam, the beauty influencer enlisted the help of makeup artist Stephanie Nimoh to achieve a glowing and neutral face.
Switching up her manicure throughout the night, the theme was simple: dazzling. For her red carpet look, she styled a set of intricately designed nails with a countless number of crystals and gold flower accents. Later, she rocked a blinged-out red manicure that matched her statement-making gown.
