NFL Prospect La'el Collins Questioned About Double Murder
What's going to happen to La'el Collins?
The ex-LSU football star, who was projected to be a first-round NFL draft prospect, wound up going undrafted last week due to his name being attached to the murder of a pregnant woman suspected of carrying his child.
Well, sources are telling TMZ Sports that Collins has given police an alibi that just might clear his name in the investigation. Sources say that Collins told investigators that he has phone records and witnesses to prove that he was nowhere near Brittney Mills on the night of April 24, when she was shot and killed in her Baton Rouge apartment.
The offensive lineman allegedly insisted that he was on an overnight trip with friends and family to watch the New Orleans Pelicans go up against the Golden State Warriors in the NBA playoffs. The prospect says he has text messages and emails to prove it, as well as GPS tracking on his cellphone to further reinforce his innocence.
Collins has not been named an official suspect in the murder investigation, but with the NFL on high alert for any kind of behavioral violation, his name being associated with the murder caused him to go undrafted.
Still, NFL teams might believe that Collins is completely innocent. That's because USA Today Sports is reporting that Collins continues to be targeted by teams around the league, even having had dinner with Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan on Monday night in Baton Rouge.
