First Lady to Appear on "106 & Park"
First Lady Michelle Obama will appear on 106 & Park Thursday, June 16, at 6 pm ET, to discuss her upcoming trip to South Africa and Botswana.
Her mother Marian Robinson, daughters Malia and Sasha, and her brother’s two children will travel to Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa, and Gaborone, Botswana, from June 21 to 26 for an official visit focused on youth leadership, education, health and wellness. The trip is a continuation of the first lady’s efforts to engage young people, particularly girls and young women, in the U.S, and abroad.
The historic visit will be filmed by BET News, which will later air a special called "Impact Africa: On a Mission With the First Lady," which will include exclusive footage of the first lady and her family in Africa.
"Impact Africa" will be hosted by journalist Lola Ogunnaike, and will feature the first lady delivering the keynote address to a Young African Women Leaders Forum in South Africa and visiting the Johannesburg Apartheid Museum and Robben Island Prison Museum in Cape Town where Nelson Mandela and many anti-apartheid leaders were imprisoned.
The special will also include a "Reporter's Journal," during which Ogunnaike will blog along the route capturing special moments of the trip and her personal experience.
