White TikToker Goes ‘Karen’ After Being Called Out For White Privilege By Black TikToker
A Black TikTok user, Sevyn Sativa (@sevynsativa), is saying a white TikToker, Anna Gantt (@annavgantt), is seeking legal action against her for a post she made calling out her privilege.
The dispute began when Anna Gantt, an aspiring New York model, uploaded a video of herself crying about the ills of the industry, claiming she was fat-shamed after going from a size 0/2 to a 4/6.
According to Gantt, she was told, “We’d really like to see more of your bones,” for her to book jobs.“I’m never good enough, and I’ve been modeling since 2014,” she continued in the now-viral video.
That’s when Sativa posted a response to Gantt’s video, sympathizing with her experiences of being body-shamed by bringing to her attention Black women have been undergoing the same scrutiny for years
“Women of color, specifically Black women, have been pointing out this problem within the industry for years,” Sativa said in her post.
“Notice how you as a white woman were able to get on this app and tell us your experience, get over 10 million views, 2 million likes, and over 30,000 comments with immediate responses,” she continued.
That’s when Gantt reportedly posted, in a since-deleted video, that two creators called her fatphobic, a white supremacist and a racist. The post did not call out Sativa by name but alluded to her references of privilege.
Sativa has since denied Gantt’s accusations and Gantt reportedly claimed that “she’s not taking any legal action.” But Sativa told the Daily Dot that Gantt left a comment on her video threatening legal action.
“Not surprising you don’t mention the 2 death threats I received directly traces from your previous video. Better Lawyer up,” Gantt reportedly posted.
“I don’t know what’s going on with that but, I do know this whole thing is ridiculous, to say the least,” Sativa said.
It’s still to be seen whether a lawsuit will be filed.
