Tyra Banks Celebrates 'Barbie' Release Channeling Her Iconic 'Life-Size' Character Eve
After an envy-worthy marketing rollout, Barbie is finally in theaters on Friday, July 21.
The film stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken. It also features Issa Rae--also as Barbie and she's even the President!
The movie has launched a trend of Barbie Pink outfits called "Barbiecore," and even a shortage of fluorescent pink paint made by a company called Rosco.
Tyra Banks is jumping in on the trend as well. You may recall she had a Barbie-inspired movie that was a cult classic with tween girls in 2000. In the made-for-TV movie, Life-Size, in which she plays a fashion doll named Eve who comes to life after a young girl named Casey (Lindsay Lohan) attempts to resurrect her mother.
A 2018 version, Life Size 2 saw Banks bring the character back to life, lending a hand to a young CEO of a toy company (Francia Raísa) struggling with her job.
In a new IG post this week, Banks recalled her character "Eve" wearing one of the dresses from the film, with a phone up to her ear and a blank expression, she wrote, "Ken, you’re leaving me for WHO??? 😭"
Fans commented on the post with many saying that Banks should have made an appearance in the new movie. However, according to PEOPLE, Tyra Banks said a third film is in the works in an appearance on What Happens Live with Andy Cohen--with Banks telling Cohen that she was “working on Life-Size 3.” However, the appearance was in February 2020---just weeks before the coronavirus pandemic.
It is unclear if the film is still in production.
