WTOP.com reports that there is currently an internal investigation into D.C. police celebrity escorts, and records show that several people have received them, including Jay-Z, Charlie Sheen and Bill Gates. Police Chief Cathy Lanier says the escorts violate department protocol, as escorts are reserved for top government officials and foreign dignitaries, unless otherwise approved. The department has generally been reimbursed for the escorts, to the tune of anywhere from several hundred dollars to $30,000. Jay-Z’s escort last year cost $1,114.20, and took him from the airport to an undisclosed location in the city. The escorts came to light after Charlie Sheen tweeted while riding with an escort: “In car with Police escort in front and rear! Driving like someone's about to deliver a baby! Cop car lights #Spinning!”
