Former NBA G League Player and His Girlfriend Charged With Killing and Kidnapping a Woman In Las Vegas

Chance Comanche and Sakari Harnden are both facing charges in connection to the death of Marayna Rodgers.

Chance Comanche, an ex-player with the NBA G League’s Stockton Kings, and his girlfriend have been arrested and charged with kidnapping and killing of a missing woman whose remains were discovered in a Las Vegas desert, CNN reports.

Last week, Comanche along with his girlfriend, Sakari Harnden were first charged with the kidnapping of Marayna Rodgers, a friend of Harnden. But when Rodger’s remains were discovered the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department pursued murder charges against the couple.

On December 7, Rodgers was reported missing just two days after she was last seen with a group of friends who were planning to meet with Comanche and Harnden, law enforcement said.

“Early in the investigation, detectives suspected foul play and obtained evidence to arrest Harnden and her boyfriend Comanche for their role in the kidnapping and disappearance of Rodgers,” the police’s statement read.

On Friday (Dec 15), FBI officials arrested Comanche in Sacramento, Cali., and he is currently being held in custody until he is extradited to Nevada.

Harnden appeared in court on Thursday (Dec. 14)  following her arrest on Wednesday (Dec 13).  Her bond was set at $500,000.

Following the couple’s arrest, law enforcement officials  “obtained information that led them to find Rodgers’ remains in a desert area of Henderson, about 20 miles southeast of Las Vegas, and determined that Comanche and Harnden  “were responsible for the murder of Rodgers.”

In addition to the kidnapping charge, Harnden has since been charged with murder and theft, according to court records.

While Comanche has not been levied with a murder charge, on Sunday (Dec. 16) police noted that charges would be “amended to open murder through coordination with the Clark County District Attorney’s office.”

Comanche is scheduled to be in court in Sacramento on Tuesday (Dec.19).

Harnden has a preliminary hearing set for Dec. 28.

In his brief NBA career, Comanche appeared in one game for the Portland Trail Blazers last season.

After playing two years at Arizona, he went undrafted in 2017 and began playing in the  G League, The Basketball League, and Türkiye Basketbol Ligi.

On Friday (Dec 15), the Kings, an affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, announced that Comanche was released from the team in a brief statement.
