As 2017 comes to a close, Gucci Mane wraps up one of his best years yet with a bounce back like no other since his release from prison on September 20, 2016. Drop Top Wop has been on fire. His comeback season featured everything from: A Reebok sneaker deal, a clothing brand, numerous collaborations, becoming a NY Times bestselling author for his own autobiography, landing a TV show on BET, marrying the love of his life and even releasing his most anticipated album yet, Mr. Davis.
The album released on October 13, 2017, debuting at No. 2 on Billboard's Hot 200 albums chart, moving 70,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release. Yesterday, the trap legend announced on his Instagram account that his single I Get The Bag ft. Migos went platinum. This is only the beginning of a new chapter for the trap genre.
As one of the grandfathers of trap, Gucci has continued to be an inspiration to young rappers coming out of Atlanta. This year alone, Migos and Gucci collaborations such as I Get The Bag, Slippery and Met Gala have skyrocketed to the top of the music charts. With Migos, this is only the beginning.
