If the comfort of being ensured good health care or a safety net when you need one is addicting, most Americans would say, “Hook me up!” That really bugs Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum, who, at a rally in Oklahoma earlier this week, compared President Obama’s administration to a “drug dealer” that wants Americans to become hooked on the health care reform law, the newest addictive drug.

"That's how they see you, as people, to get hooked like a drug dealer, someone to become dependent on them and once that happens, they got you," Santorum said, according to a CBS News Report. "America is changed forever. No country that has socialized medicine has ever gone back the other way, no country that has lost its freedom has ever regained it."

It’s not the first time he’s made such an analogy. BuzzFeed reports that in 2010 Santorum said that entitlement programs are like the guy in the schoolyard with a dime bag.

“And once we get you hooked on the entitlement, you’ll never go back. Now I closed my eyes and thought, I’m standing in front of the school yard with a guy with a dime bag, saying, ‘once I hook you, once I numb you, once I stop you from reaching great heights and protect you from falling, we gotcha. We’ll hook you.’”
