Ciara Opens Up About Personal Style for Billboard
We've always loved the way Ciara has mixed sexy femininity with her tomboyish ways and in Billboard.com's The Hook, the singer chats about her fashion inspiration and how her look has evolved over the years.
"I'm a tomboy so I'd wear like a gold herringbone or a silver herringbone with Mickey Mouse on it," she says of her past wardrobe choices. "I would do the baggy pants with…I would always do sneakers. Sneakers, sometimes fitted jeans, cool jackets, but always a tomboy."
She also recalls a major fashion misstep when she attended an awards show wearing a printed mermaid style, high-waisted skirt with a hot pink crop top. The cherry on top of this fiasco was the matching pink flowers in her hair. Luckily, the singer has lived to turn heads in red carpet moments that followed and for all the good reasons. This isn't to say that Ciara is one to stop taking fashion risks. If anything, she's taken cues from her fashion inspiration, Michael Jackson, and will keep pushing the envelope.
"He is my biggest inspiration and I really loved watching what he did," she says. "He had a very unique sense of style. Sometimes it could be a bit wild, but I think that's what made him really cool 'cause he was very bold. He would take risks and he was very confident in his unique style."
