Queen Latifah will be trading vocal chops with country music legend Dolly Parton this coming year in the musical dramedy Joyful Noise.

The film centers on the two as dueling choir members of a small town’s gospel choir. Both want their group to win the national choir competition, but have different views on how they should go for the prize. Conflict arises when Parton’s grandson falls in love with Latifah and comes up with an idea to make some changes in the choir.

Jesse L. Martin will star as Latifah’s husband and Keke Palmer will play her daughter.

Joyful Noise will hit theaters in January 2012. Check out the trailer above.
