Diddy Launches a Curated Marketplace to Connect Consumers With Black-Owned Brands
Hip-Hop legend and business mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs has announced the launch of Empower Global—a curated digital marketplace connecting consumers worldwide with Black-owned businesses.
The launch of the company starts with over 70 brands that include Silver & Riley, Actively Black, Scotch Porter, Coco & Breezy, Kultured Misfits, Gwen Beloti Jewelry, Buttah Skin, Marie Hunter Beauty, Pound Cake, B.M. Franklin & Co., Beauty Stat Cosmetics, Cecilia's House, Cise, Cool Creative Clothing, June 79, and Rebecca Allen, with over 1,000 different items that are already available on the platform, according to REVOLT—which is also founded by the mogul.
“For a long time, I thought about how to create radical change,” he wrote in the caption of a promo video for Empower Global on Instagram. “Over the years I’ve realized radical change starts with us. I’m extremely passionate about creating a platform that will show the power of unity. [Through] my life’s work and the different stages of success, I’ve realized for our people to break through and advance we have to do things together.”
He added, "Empower Global represents a solution to all the things that have held our communities back. Let’s unite, brand by brand, company by company, person by person, customer by customer, and dollar by dollar."
According to the official website, Empower Global is an immersive e-commerce experience offering best-in-class products - apparel, beauty, fashion, art, travel - from Black-owned businesses. With culture and community at its core, Empower Global’s digital marketplace elevates the Black economy by creating opportunities for Black entrepreneurs to build and scale successful businesses and for everyone to “Shop Black” daily easily.
The company is based in Atlanta.
