Look: DeSean Jackson Is Taking a Stand Against Police Brutality With These Cleats
If you're an NFL player wanting to take a stand against police brutality and racism, you don't have to necessarily kneel during the national anthem like Colin Kaepernick and several other players.
Just ask DeSean Jackson.
Before Washington hosted the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, the three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver donned pre-game cleats depicting police caution tape as a stance against police brutality.
Take a look at the footwear.
In a released statement to the press, Jackson made it clear that he isn't looking to protest law enforcement altogether, but instead add to the discussion of the "senseless killings of both citizens and police."
His Washington franchise supported his decision to make a statement with these cleats.
"We stand in support of both DeSean and the law enforcement community," the team said in a statement, as reported by USA Today Sports. "We have great respect for law enforcement and the sacrifices they make each and every day to protect and serve our communities. We continue to have open dialogue with our players about issues that are important to them and support their efforts to bring awareness to those issues when done in a responsible manner."
It will be interesting to see how Jackson continues to move this conversation forward in the forthcoming weeks.
