No More Baseball for Jameis Winston
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are all in with Jameis Winston, selecting him with the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft on Thursday night.
Now, the Buccaneers are asking the star quarterback to be all in with the franchise as well. That's because the team has worked in a clause into Winston's contract, prohibiting him from playing professional baseball, according to Sports Illustrated.
Remember, in addition to being a Heisman Trophy winner and national champion at Florida State University, Winston was also a baseball star for the Seminoles. The star quarterback was even selected in the 15th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft by the Texas Rangers and would be eligible to be drafted again next month.
But the Bucs obviously want to protect their four-year, $24.35 million deal, including a $16.69 million signing bonus, that Winston signed Friday and only have him focused on football.
