On a night filled with glitz, glamour, and accolades, British-Nigerian actor Damson Idris stole the spotlight as he clinched the award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series at the 55th NAACP Image Awards for his riveting performance in "Snowfall."

Born in Peckham, London, Idris has been making waves in the entertainment industry with his remarkable talent and versatility. Before captivating audiences with his portrayal of Franklin Saint in "Snowfall," Idris honed his craft through various roles in both film and television.

The talented actor first gained recognition for his compelling performance in the British crime drama "City of Tiny Lights." However, it was his breakout role as Franklin Saint, a young street entrepreneur navigating the crack cocaine epidemic in 1980s Los Angeles, that catapulted him to stardom.

"Snowfall," created by John Singleton, Eric Amadio, and Dave Andron, has been praised for its gritty portrayal of the drug trade and its impact on society. Idris's nuanced and captivating portrayal of Franklin Saint has earned him widespread acclaim, cementing his status as one of Hollywood's most promising talents.

“Thank you, God. My mother flew from Lagos, Nigeria for 17 hours. Before she got on the plane, she said, ‘Damson, if I come to Los Angeles you better win,” Idris laughed.

“Thank you, NAACP and my “Snowfall” family. This award has been won by so many heroes of mine like James Earl. Jones, Michael K. Williams, and Laurence Fishburne. I'm honored to be standing amongst them. I'm honored to be standing amongst you, people who inspire me every single day,” Idris continued. “People who make art that we can be proud of. Art for the present, the past, and the future.”

“Peace and love. Hopefully, Denzel knows who I am now. Thank you so much for this honor. Love you all.”

What's next for Idris? Well, he's putting on his racing attire to star in an untitled movie about Formula One racing opposite Brad Pitt.
