Death Row Records Pendants Could Fetch $1 Million at Auction
A set of Death Row pendants adorned with diamonds, once worn by Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg, are set to hit the auction block, according to TMZ.
GottaHaveRockAndRoll.com, the online auction site launched in 2008 devoted to rock and roll and pop art, told TMZ Hip Hop, “The consigner got their hands on the latest round of rap memorabilia from Reggie Wright Jr. -- the former head of Death Row security -- who's been sharing his recollection of the label's heyday for years.”
The iconic pendants are part of a collection of treasures associated with Suge Knight's former empire that will be available for bidding.
TMZ sources reveal that Suge Knight orchestrated the crafting of distinct sets of Death Row chains intended to be loaned to his artists. The top-tier 14-karat "Fully Iced" pendant, exclusively worn by major players like Shakur and Snoop, is poised to command an auction price in the range of $500,000 to $1 million.
Partial diamond pendants from this collection are estimated to hit the auction floor with values ranging from $200,000 to $500,000.
Shakur’s pieces in particular tend to fetch high prices at auction. Other items up for auction include his 1996 “Saturday Night Live” performance envelope and personalized ticket with an estimated value between $8,000 and $12,000.
The crown ring worn by Shakur during his last public appearance in 1996 achieved a record-breaking sale of $1,016,000 at a Sotheby's auction. The ring is the "most valuable hip-hop artifact ever sold at auction," standing as the singular item to command a purchase price exceeding $1 million, per a statement from the auction house.
GottaHaveRockAndRoll.com’s one-of-a-kind auction will feature a collection of 50 years of Hip-Hop memorabilia, autographs, and more, including items from The Notorious B.I.G., Wu-Tang Clan, Eazy-E, NWA and others.
Online bidding commences today and is scheduled to conclude Nov. 10.
