Meghan Markle Volunteers for L.A. Teen Girls Impacted by Wildfires
This week, Meghan Markle did her part in helping out young women affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.
According to “Page Six,” on Monday, January 13, the Duchess of Sussex attended an Altadena Teen Girls-hosted pop-up at Boyle Heights, where she distributed new clothing and beauty goods. Along with donating to the drive, Markle spoke to families, supporting them during their time of need, less than a week after the Santa Ana winds fanned the wildfires through the areas of the Pacific Palisades, Altadena, Malibu, Palisades, Sylmar, and more. According to Cal Fire, among the 153 confirmed wildfires, over 40,000 acres have burned, in addition to the destruction of 24,000 structures.
In an interview with the “Los Angeles Times,” Altadena Teen Girls founder explained that the drive was held to “gather clothes, personal items, beauty and hair care products – the everyday items that allow these teenagers to thrive and carry on amidst challenging circumstances.”
Altadena Teen Girls wouldn’t be the first organization dedicated to L.A.-based relief that Markle contributed to this month. Alongside her husband, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, Markle provided meals last week while volunteering with chef José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen. The couple also provided food and essentials to the Pasadena Convention Center wildfire victims.
With respect to those affected by the ongoing fires, Markle has postponed the date of her upcoming Netflix lifestyle series, “With Love: Meghan,” to March 4.
