The Obamas sure know how to party. To celebrate the President's 50th birthday, the first couple called their famous friends to the White House for some high-end barbecue and entertainment by Jennifer Hudson, Herbie Hancock and Stevie Wonder.
Comedian Chris Rock and all-around-baller Jay Z were among the guests, along with former basketball pros Charles Barkley and Grant Hill, Oprah's BFF Gayle King and Tom Hanks. Notably absent? Beyonce, who was caught up in a New Jersey trailer park shooting a music video, and Oprah herself.
Festivities began with a barbecue in the Rose Garden, followed by a cake presented by Michelle Obama and the first daughters, and then everyone moved inside for music and dancing. Chris Rock kept his Twitter followers up-to-speed by dutifully reporting all the details of the event: "Just left the Presidents birthday party at the White House," the comedian and actor said on Twitter. "Herbie Hancock played, Stevie Wonder sang and yes they did the electric slide. A great night."
We're guessing not too many Republicans were invited to the party, and Fox News bitterly reported that Obama's Hip-Hop BBQ didn't create any jobs. Now that's just not true…pettily trashing the President has kept that network afloat for years.
