There's Only One Woman That Nicki Minaj Will Ever Compete With
Nicki Minaj is no stranger to competition. In this year alone, Minaj has often found herself at one end of a rap battle with other femcees, whether it be warranted or fueled by Twitter trolls. But the “No Frauds” rapper is here to let everyone know that there is only one person she has ever competed with in her entire career: Foxy Brown. Nicki shared a birthday post on Instagram to celebrate Foxy’s big day and let everyone know what’s really good.
“I may have never even started rapping if it wasn’t for her,” wrote in a caption next to an iconic picture of Foxy. “KING FOX. Her flow & delivery is still unmatched. You can’t listen to me w/o hearing her influence. She’s still the only thing I compete w/when it comes to precision of flow, delivery & execution. Trini QUEEN Happy Birthday my love @foxybrown.”
Of course it’s no surprise to see Nicki paying homage to her idol. Both femcees have frequently shown love and support for one another over the years. In fact, Foxy commended Nicki for bowing down to Lauryn Hill at the Tidal 10/15 concert. And back in 2012, Nicki declared Foxy “the most influential female rapper.”
While Nicki’s post is a clear display of appreciation and humility, it also sets the record straight on a number of rumored feuds. Despite people attempting to pit the “Rake It Up” artist against Remy Ma and Cardi B, Nicki is apparently only aiming to reach Foxy Brown’s status of success.
