Regardless of debates concerning his rap ranking as compared to his industry peers, Drake’s artistry has successfully transcended hip-hop’s tight borders, making gains for the OVO champion in other genres such as pop, reggae, soul, and prominently, R&B. While he owes at least partial credit for this feat to his savvy for collaborations and sampling, his photo with a tokened voice of R&B/soul’s golden years, Sade, has the internet ready to pump its brakes on the Champagne Papi.

Posted to his Instagram, Drizzy, Sade and his mother, Sandi Graham are all serenely posed for the flick.

“Two very important ladies in my life,” he wrote in the caption.

Taking a look back on Drake’s history of unexpected photos, they’ve usually been subtle hinting at future collaborations or other musical ventures. And since he’s also imbued his sound with his adoration of classic R&B, there’s plenty reason for suspicion that he may have his OVO music sights set on the legendary singer-songwriter after all. But if there’s any truth to such an impression, there’s a few more questions that demand answers.
