DaBaby Previews Tribute Song To Late Brother
DaBaby is releasing a new song in tribute to his late brother, Glenn Johnson, on Friday.
On Nov. 18, the rapper shared a minute-long snippet of a track called “My Brother’s Keeper” on Instagram that acts as a tribute for Glenn Johnson, his older brother who committed suicide earlier this month.
The cover art for the song showcases the two siblings as children.
In the song, DaBaby talks about how he’s been feeling since his brother died. “I been hurt, ain't got no feelings since we lost you/ Feel like a prisoner of my mind, no one to talk to,” he raps. “Never let depression go unchecked, that sh*t will cost you/ Baby bro is going to walk down on any n**** that crossed you.”
DaBaby’s 34-year-old brother killed himself via a self-inflicted gunshot wound in their hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, on Nov 3. After changing his bio on Instagram to “LONG LIVE MY BROTHER” shortly after the news broke, he posted lyrics from his song “Intro” that touched on his brother's struggles on his Instagram story, writing, “My brother be thinkin' that we don't love him and let him struggle like we ain't family/Like I won't give up all I got to see you, n****."
In the hours before his suicide, Johnson posted a disturbing video on social media that depicted him severely upset inside of a car with a firearm. He is reportedly survived by a son and three daughters.
