Smokey Robinson Wouldn't Mind a Justin Bieber Collaboration

The Biebs gets permission to remake Smokey's music.

Embracing the new school means giving Justin Bieber a shot at some of the classics. Iconic singer/songwriter Smokey Robinson says he wouldn’t mind if Bieber remade all of his music, and he’d even collaborate with the pop star “in a New York minute.”

“Justin’s actually a nice kid…whatever he was going through, I’m glad he’s good and he’s on his way,” Robinson told TMZ Monday after having lunch with songwriter Jason "Poo Bear" Boyd, who penned Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?” single.

Robinson thinks Bieber has “the potential” to reach the status of Stevie Wonder, who signed to Motown at age 11. Wonder also wrote “Tears of a Clown” a No. 1 hit for Robinson and the Miracles.

The Biebs is down to cover Robinson's catalog, according to his inner circle. A source was quoted as saying: "Justin would be honored to work with Smokey and he's a huge fan of his music."
