Kanye West Blasts Paparazzi and SNL in Latest Rant
On stage for the Adult Swim Upfront showcase at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC last night (May 15), Kanye West offered a "Pinocchio Story"-style rant about run-ins with the paparazzi.
Things in that department have been difficult for Yeezy as of late, what with him accidentally head-butting a sign while he and Kim Kardashian were trying to duck photogs and with another almost causing a car crash, endangering Kim and his soon-to-be-born child.
"One thing about me. I'm the worst kinda, worst kinda, worst kinda celebrity ... because all I do is make real music," he spit. "All I do is sit in the studio and make real, real s--t, and that's it. That's motherf---ing it. That's motherf---ing it. So I don't want nobody trying to run up on me with no cameras, trying to sell pictures and s--t to magazines, asking me no dumba-- questions. Throwing me off of my focus and s--t. Harassing you all motherf---ing day. I ain't no motherf---ing celebrity ..."
After a brief pause, Mr. West turned his ire towards the folks over at Saturday Night Live. Just days before he is set to perform on the show, Kanye killed all the talk about him possibly taking part in a comedy skit on SNL.
"[I had a friend ask me, 'Are you gonna go on] SNL and you're going to do like a skit about the paparazzi and s--t and, like, humanize yourself?' I ain't here to apologize to no motherf---ers man. It ain't about me humanizing myself. At what point did I become unhuman where I had to turn myself back? Or maybe I was demonized. Or maybe I was treated inhumane and not human in that kind of situation."
He continued, "I ain't no motherf---ing celebrity. I ain't running for office. I ain't kissing nobody's motherf---ing babies. I drop your baby and you sue me and s--t. I'm trying to make some music that inspires people to be the best they can be. I don't want nobody to ask nothing else of me. Don't ask nothing else of me. Motherf---ers chasing you down, 'bout to make you crash and s--t. And all they want is one n---a to laugh and s--t. Hell nah I ain't doing no motherf---ing SNL skits, this my g--d--- life. This ain't no motherf---ing joke."
'Ye is currently working on his next album, expected mid-June. Earlier this week, he held a private listening session for some of the material; and earlier this month, he performed a new song, "I Am God," at the MET Gala. Speculation has it that Odd Future, Chief Keef, John Legend and Daft Punk are all set to be featured on the final track listing.
He's not just making music, however. As 'Ye mentioned, he's been scheduled to appear on Saturday Night Live and he's slated for a cameo in Anchorman 2.
