A neighborhood in Liberty, Missouri, was shocked when a sign that read “Slaves 4 Sale” was mounted over a Confederate flag, which hung on a man’s home. 

Richard Geisenheyner had reportedly received several complaints about the Confederate flag he displayed on the front of his home, and he told Fox4KC that he was tired of being called a racist because of the flag.  

Fed up with being told the flag was a racist relic, Geisenheyner decided to make the sign.

"If people actually believe that a Confederate flag stands for slavery, well, I might as well be just as stupid as they are," Geisenheyner told Fox4KC.

To make the situation worse, Geisenheyner also argued the flag is actually a symbol for fighting the government.

"It is for people that are tired of the government telling them what to do and what to think. That is what a Southern rebel is," Geisenheyner told Fox4KC.

However, neighbors of Geisenheyner have made it clear that his beliefs do not represent the whole of the community.

"I am going to tell you why it is offensive to me. I remember the signs on the wall that says 'white only.' I am that old. I remember the signs on the wall that says 'negros only entrance here,’” a neighbor told Fox4KC.

According to Fox4KC, Geisenheyner took his sign down Tuesday because he believed he made his point.
