Dame Dash and Jay-Z's falling out is well documented, but just because the two men are no longer doing business together doesn't mean there are any lingering hard feelings. In a new interview with Global Grind, Dash says he has no regrets regarding the dissolution of Roc-A-Fella Records and feels pride over everything Jay-Z has accomplished.
Asked if he felt he had made mistakes regarding his old label, Dash replied in the negative.
"No, not at all," he said. "How could I? Look at Jay-Z, look at Kanye, look at everything. Every success they have I'm proud of. Every time I see them on television I know what I did."
Dash went on to say that he has "nothing but positive things to say" about Jay-Z, even if their personal relationship has been rocky. He said that notions of beef are applied too easily when it comes to business between Black men.
"All we did was make a company together, sold the company and went and did other businesses," he said. "Why can't two Black people do that? It happens all the time. It was a business arrangement."
As for whether he misses his old life with the Roc, Dash said he does not and is happy to have moved on to different things.
"Being in a rap environment is mostly being around a lot of men," he said. "And they're young men and they're aggressive and they're usually insecure. I'd prefer to be in fashion or a place where there's art. A place where there's no bullets and no security."
