In the late ‘90s, then-budding rap talents 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo would assemble a hip-hop force that would later become the label hip-hop heavyweight house famously known as G-Unit.  

The three men would later go on to form an indestructible brotherhood over an entire decade later. In 2018, one man has dropped off from the G-Unit squad, but according to Fif’s now-deleted post, will always carry its bloodline to the death: Lloyd Banks.

Fif sent love to Banks with the Instagram post, sharing an announcement of his forthcoming mixtape with his 18 million followers.

“Check out my boy Lloyd bank$.New Mix tape coming soon!” his caption beneath the photo reads.

The picture itself reads, “Lloyd bank$ is officially off G-unit Records.” There’s no bad blood from the separation, though, which is 50 alternatively considers Lloyd’s “Independence Day” instead.

“He is doing his own thing and you know it’s gonna be loaded with bars,” he said.

Back in March, the “Karma” rapper sparked rumors of his own rap retirement in an industry experiment of sorts. He sent his farewell via Twitter, announcing that after falling in love with hip-hop over 25 years ago, it was time to “lay it down.” Afterward, he wagged his finger in disappointment at the media outlets who reported on the retirement instead of the music.

“I hope all these outlets support me when I drop,” he said. “Have a good day.”

Fortunately, it looks like he really was just pulling legs after all!
