Larenz Tate Prefers Revisiting THIS Role Over Discussing a 'Love Jones' Sequel
Larenz Tate sees and hears all the fan requests for a reboot of his classic 1997 romance-comedy “Love Jones.” While he’s all down for the cause, the actor recently opened up about another role he wouldn’t mind reprising instead.
The Hollywood veteran told Alabama Life & Culture he was “tired of people asking me about ‘Love Jones 2,’” But he wouldn’t mind taking on the role of Quincy Jones. He portrayed the legendary composer in the 2004 biographical musical drama “Ray.” “I just want to go ahead and put that to rest and get into production.”

“I hope we come up with something sooner than later,” the 48-year-old star told the outlet during a visit to Birmingham for an “Empower Us” event at the historic 16th Street Baptist Church.
“He’s at the top of my list,” the actor shared.
Tate also wants to tell stories of notable Black figures outside of entertainment. “We do a lot of biopics of musicians all the time. For me, I’d like to do stories about historical figures that we don’t realize have had an impact on us today,” the actor who portrayed Frankie Lymon in the 1998 film “Why Do Fools Fall in Love,” explained. “If I can be a part of telling that story as an actor or producer, I would love that opportunity.”
